Hello,

I remembered as song, today, that reminds me of my grandmother teaching me the song, but reminds me of grandpa.

Ntatemogolo o tswa kae ka jeno?
Ke tswa sepetlele godimo ga dithaba
O bolowa ke eng?
Ke thlogo, magetla, nko le molomo,
Sefuba, dithek(h/g)a
Mmangwele menwana

  1. I just realised a pun/irony in those three names: Mandla, Lehlogonolo and Gontse.

    Mandla = not the power meaning, but the will to do something;

    Lehlogonolo = luck (in sense the sense of having faith)

    And, Gontse, implying: if you have the will to do something and the faith in doing so, what more do you need, that should be enough (Gontse), no?

    or am I pushing the proverbial envelop too far?

  2. ah man!! i forgot that's how the song started. i remembered the anatomical part.
    is that a lemon tree?

  3. an orange tree. :)

  5. ... I will call my mother to find out --- I suspect it does not have a meaning --- but a word derived from a Swati and/or Zulu word: ka ngwane.
