Hello.
This is my grandfather: Daniel Molelekwa Nkoane. We do not have a solid relation as I do with Koko.
I tried to treat this photograph in way that would not make him look as 'aggressive', but, it is true to our relation, it's rough.
Alas, if I am not mistaken, he is about 90+ years old, and when I spoke to Koko yesterday, he wasn't doing well.
Although we (me and the ol'man) don't have a solid bond, his fading health has an effect on my well being. I guess this quote then makes sense:

Deep pic! you are fortunate, i don't remember having a gradfather growing... and granny died when i was stil young. but i stil have those childish memories that will never fade.

I think there's a great continuum there between the grandparent you're named after and yourself.
It roots us. I don't have that. But I do see it with other family members. I envy that.

The fact that there is a strong resemblance form parent to child and between generations is nothing short of a miracle. A quick genetic biology lesson: when genes recombine during fertilization is the equivalent of a lotto of sorts. What is even more amazing is which genes are expressed and which are not!
