We Trust

Good afternoon!

Slept at 5am --- could not sleep, spent 6 hours trying to sleep. Insomia is kicking in. Yay! They say the first step is acceptance, right?

Then I spent 2 hours selecting a photograph for today.  I think I'm getting soft --- can't seem to get myself to post photographs that someway somehow promote injustice (sexims, racism, and any other ism).

Can a photographer be immune --- are we innocent bystanders? (note how I used 'we' -- yeah, I'm part of that pro-photographers club, :)

  1. Hola!

    (this one's gorgeous)

Surely you are conscious of what you capture and the possible, even though unintended, insinuations or as you say, "promotions of injustice" of sorts? Ain't the difference between what you capture and how others "somehow, someway" interpret it, interesting to you? It sure is to me! Don't censor it!

  2. Gorgeous indeed.

  3. Lulu --- I think my fear (lack of a better word) is that, what people interpret is sometimes hurtful --- sure everybody is entitled to their own --- but you know how Bin Laden hasn't killed anybody but is responsible --- okay, that's an extreme analogy

But yeah --- I'd rather inspire good, than evil, I suppose.

  4. Erm…extremely extreme!

Another analogy? I woke up in the middle of the night, caught a glimpse of a pile of clothes in the corner of my bedroom. I swear I saw the face of a man…quite ghostly…I had to rearrange them cos it freaked me out…But I guess somebody else would have probably just seen a dirty pile of clothes.

    I do hear you, tho!

  5. Hmmm, that's weird --- happens to me all the time --- in fact I too re-arrange things that create fear --- i don't like being scared --- which is why i don't watch horror flicks, but I really must watch it, I'd have to watch it during day-light.

I see your point* --- we see what we want (or manifest) --- and thus, one cannot pre-empt the interpretation by others.

    *Taken.

  6. YAY!!! (jumping for joy)

  7. DOPE!

  8. hehehe, the brain works tricks on us and we buy it to a point where its a real feeling. At that point one starts getting paranoid.

"...I swear I saw the face of a man…quite ghostly…I had to rearrange them cos it freaked me out…"

Maybe thats all it takes, rearrange it until you feel comfortable because if u rearrange it until they feel comfortable you'll be rearranging forever.

  9. Ebola!

  10. WOW!!!

"...thats all it takes, rearrange it until you feel comfortable because if u rearrange it until they feel comfortable you'll be rearranging forever."

    That's it, right there!

    (I retreat, satisfied)
